The condition of transformers, and not solely their ages, should drive transformer replacement, and periodic excessive loadings leave DTE Electric with a high substation transformer failure rate.<br \/><br \/><\/span><\/li><li>About 40% of the utility&#8217;s circuit breakers and reclosers were installed between 1930 and 1960. Its legacy oil circuit breakers need more intense maintenance and lack performance compared to modern gas circuit breakers.<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>DTE Electric aims to have its lines trimmed of trees every five years, but the effective cycle is currently 5-7 years. Utilities with shorter vegetation management cycles have seen significant reductions in outages.<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>More than 13% of DTE Electric customers experienced four or more interruptions in 2023 and nearly 45% experienced interruptions of eight hours or more.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d904b2e e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"d904b2e\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fd85708 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"fd85708\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Among the findings on Consumers Energy:<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d4b4d9e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d4b4d9e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">About 62% of Consumers&#8217; low-voltage distribution poles are classified as small-diameter classes 5, 6, and 7, which are more susceptible to breaking in storms.<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The current average effective cycle is nearly ten years because of a trimming backlog.
